BATH TWP.: Given the number of key employees who have opted to retire this year due to changes in the state’s public employee retirement system, trustees approved a number of personnel issues on Monday, including changes in the township job description manual and posting for a number of openings, all for replacement personnel.
Changes were approved in job descriptions for labor equipment operator in the service department, the full-time park laborer position in the parks department and a new position for a full-time zoning/solid waste administrative assistant.
Subsequent to those changes, trustees then approved posting for all three positions, although the last one will initially be posted internally.
The position of labor equipment operator in the service department has not been filled for about two years following the retirement of an employee. The job entails manual and semi-skilled labor duties, including the repair and construction of township road and drainage projects and the operation of vehicles, equipment and hand-held tools. This posting is open through Dec. 3.
The post of fulltime Park Laborer was described as “everything,” by Assistant Service Director/Park Director Michael Rorar, from opening and closing the gates to the parks to landscaping to working on minor construction projects. This posting will be held open through Nov. 29.
The new position of zoning/solid waste administrative assistant is the combining of two part-time positions, one in the zoning department and the other handling the solid waste district duties, given the planned retirement of Martha Ferch next year. This job is primarily clerical in nature and requires bookkeeping, secretarial and accounting experience. It will be posted internally until Dec. 3.
All of the postings are available on the township website at www.bathtownship.org.
