RICHFIED: Every year, Mary Serpentini opens her Glencairn Forest home for a holiday open house and silent auction to benefit the Richfield Police Department’s Shop with a Cop program.

The open house and silent auction is hosted by Jason and Jordan Serpentini and helps to raise funds for children in disadvantaged situations in a six county area. Organized by members of the Richfield Police Department, officers in 34 police departments sell upwards of 45,000 raffle tickets to raise money to take children on a shopping trip and treat them to a pizza party to help make their holiday more joyous.

Last year, 325 children benefited from this program, according to Richfield police.

This year’s holiday open house and silent auction will take place from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday at 3491 Douglas Drive in Richfield.

The evening includes a buffet and refreshments, plus an appearance by Santa Claus at 7 p.m. The silent auction will include numerous items and a great selection of jewelry, plus raffle tickets ($1 each or six for $5) will be sold for the grand prize of an Apple iPad and cash prizes for second ($200) and third ($100) place.

Donation at the door is $25 per family. RSVP with the number of adults and children attending by Monday.

For further information or details or to RSVP, call Mary at 330-659-0438.
