BATH TWP.: Trustees unanimously agreed on Monday to appoint Michael Rorar, assistant service director, to the position of interim service director, effective Jan.1, until the appointment of a new service director, which is expected next year.
In early November, current Service Director Bob Wilson announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31, after working 30 years for Bath, the last three as the department head.
The township has received 14 applications for the position from “several excellent candidates,” including Rorar, said Interim Administrator Bill Snow. However, given the timeline needed to complete the selection process, it was recommended that Rorar be named for the interim. He will be paid an additional $800 per month for the additional responsibilities of his new position.
Rorar, who has been with Bath for 14 years, was initially hired as the parks superintendent. In November 2009, the year that Wilson was named to the post of service director, Rorar was slotted into the role as assistant service director.
“I'm excited to have been given the opportunity to show what I have learned and to better serve Bath Township and its residents,” said Rorar of the interim post.
The service director heads a staff of nine full-time employees and an administrative assistant operating out of two locations in Bath.
