BATH TWP: The Bath trustees approved the hiring of a fiscal officer assistant during the March 18 meeting.
Fiscal Officer Sharon Troike recommended and trustees approved hiring Roy Ferguson as the fiscal officer assistant effective March 19. Ferguson, who is a certified public accountant, is retired, having been employed by the City of Akron in both the Audit & Budget Department and the Treasurer’s Office. Prior to that, Ferguson worked as an accountant at Kent State University. He has also been president of the Akron Municipal Employees’ Credit Union for 12 years.
The trustees posted for the position in November. The elected position of fiscal officer is considered a "part-time" job according to Troike, with no requirement of hours in the Ohio Revised Code.
Currently, Troike works three to four days per week, depending on the work load and time of year. With her duties “ever-increasing,” Troike envisions supervising Ferguson in a flexible schedule of two to three days per week, depending on need. Ferguson will be paid $18.50 an hour.
